Wednesday August 27, 2008 - 8:15am Update A PagosaCam Public Service Announcement... The August Alzheimer’s Support Group meeting will be held TODAY at 1:00pm at the Senior Center. Anyone who may have a loved one, friend, parent, spouse or relative who may be affected by this horrible disease is encouraged to attend. This is a support group to help answer some of the many questions associated with Alzheimer’s. For more information, please call Elaine Stumpo, Regional Director of the Alzheimer’s Association at 970-259-0122.
Another round of showers brought .15” of rain to PagosaCam yesterday afternoon. So in the past 3 days we have received .44” of needed rainfall. And we still have a 20% chance for a few lingering isolated showers and thunderstorms this afternoon here in Pagosa. Our high should reach the 80 degree mark this afternoon and the low 80’s for tomorrow as dryer air moves in. Mostly to partly cloudy skies again for Friday with a high in the upper 70’s. A Pacific trough will arrive sometime late Saturday or Sunday which will bring the rain chances back into our forecast for the entire weekend. Our highs will cool back into the mid to upper 70’s with lows in the upper 30’s to low 40’s. And then dryer air should return by Tuesday. So look for a few stray showers again today followed by a couple of nice days. And Gustav is currently a tropical storm west of the Dominican Republic and heading towards Jamaica and Cuba. By early Saturday it appears that Gustav will pass over the western half of Cuba before entering the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico. It will gain strength in the warm waters and become a hurricane once again. It’s still early, but the current track continues to point this storm towards the Louisiana/Texas coasts. And since news reports earlier this week mentioned that New Orleans has apparently made no improvements to their levies, this could be a problem. Let’s hope not. In the meantime, Enjoy your Wednesday!
